Hi,
On the device page https://artisan-scope.org/devices/meters/
I read that the optically isolated Victor 86B is compatible with Scope,
while others say Scope do not work with USB HID devices, such as the Victor
DMM....
My Victor 86B shows up in the device manager under USB HID devices in win 7.
In Artisan 2.0.0 Scope config devices is set to Meter/Victor 86B after
which a port config window appears to select a com port.
I have installed the CP210X driver, and would expect a virtual comport to
show up, when the Victor 86B is connected, but that does not seem to happen.
Any suggestions to cure the problem, please let me know.
Alternatively, for two K-type sensors, which optically isolated solution is
the choice for Artisan Scope 2.0.0, please.
Thanks in advance,
Henrik
I'm relatively new to artisan. Been using RoastLogger for years but now that
I have my phidget 1048 I don't need the camera/ocr feature anymore.
I haven't been able to locate the help file or information about the
settings under Config-Device - Phidgets tab. For instance, Async check
boxes, raw data, change etc. I've found everything on the github page, but
maybe I just haven't been successful in pinpointing the proper area to look.
Secondly- I'm roasting on a Diedrich IR-24, which has a thicker J
thermocouple than the one I've hooked up to artisan, which is a K type 1/8in
I purchased here:
https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Sensors_-z-_Encoders/T
emperature_Sensors_-a-_Transmitters/Thermocouple_Sensors/Probes_(with_Lead_W
ire_Transition)/THMK-T06L06-01
The temperatures are around 30 degrees F higher on the thinner K
thermocouple than what the roaster is reporting, even though my
thermocouples in the roaster are mounted next to each other (didn't want to
piggyback on BT of the roaster to phidgets)
Does anyone have any experience in this area? Perhaps the simple fact that
the probe is thinner means the readings will be different, but I do not
know. It would appear that the readings on the roaster are accurate while
the other is much hotter.
Just getting started, and appreciate any guidance.
Greetings,
I've been roasting for about a year (home roaster) but I'm new (4 roasts) to Artisan. I've checking out the various capabilities and features and it is quite a powerful tool. Great work!!
One feature doesn't seem to be working for me though and I'm not sure if it is me or something else.
Generating a Report as Web... and CSV... appears to work but when I try Excel... I get an error message.
So... when I try to generate a Batches Report (selected 4 *.alog files) I find the following in Help >> Messages

When I try to generate a Ranking Report (selected 4 *.alog files) I find the following in Help >> Messages

These also show up in the Error Log (Help >> Errors) and displayed as an "Exception:...." right above the Roast Title on the main display.

Especially when upgrading to 2.0 it has been advised to 1) save settings and 2) load these after install of 2.0
Anyway it’s always great to keep past settings. I backup settings under a new name every time I make a (minor) change to my setup so I can always return.
https://artisan-roasterscope.blogspot.com/2019/06/artisan-2.html#more <https://artisan-roasterscope.blogspot.com/2019/06/artisan-2.html#more>
A note on upgrading from v1.x:
Artisan 2 stores the application settings in a new location. On first start of artisan 2 the old settings are imported. From that moment on, changes to settings done with artisan 2 will not be synchronized automatically back to previous versions. However, synchronizing settings via save/load settings (under menu Help) manually works across all versions. It is anyhow advisable to export a working setup and keep it saved to be able to track back in case changes do not work out as expected.

Hi, I am new to all of this.
I accidentally Reset the Extra Devices, and have no idea how to add them again.
We are using Phidget 1048, and had the “Drum Exhaust Temp” amongst others.
I have successfully being using Artisan on my roaster for the past couple
months.
Let's say i've done a couple roast and the gas fired drum is hot. For my
next batch, I will drop in with gas off for a min or so and then turn the
gas back on.
The problem is (and not all the time) is that when I click the button to
turn the ignition on, my graph drops out from Artisan and I lose the port
connection or something....no more roaster readings. I then have to stop
the Artisan roast. Select the right port again and go from there.
I tried to follow the snippet on the Artisan installation
https://artisan-scope.org/docs/installation/ ---> Consistent USB names on
Debian (by Rob Gardner)
Im running Linux Mint 19 and no matter what udev rule I add, nothing seems
to be working.
Hi,
If you have a spark ignition that's your problem.
One solution is to start your fire before starting Artisan. The other would be you change your ignition system ( I'm using a catalytic infrared starter used mainly in fireplaces). I have tried usb filters without luck but perhaps there is one that works (they are probably on the expensive side).
Best luck.

Dear all,
I have been running Artisan for some years now. Very happy with it. I installed a Keller gas pressure transmitter which communicated with Artisan very well through MODBUS. Have now installed latest version Artisan (2.0). One additional benefit, I can run now Artisan and Keller CCS software at the same time, before it was not possible (some challenges with MODBUS)
I had to change the pressure sensor because I had to change from natural gas to LPG. My Probat LG3 moved from Europe to Vietnam.
The pressure range for LPG (0-100mbar) came outside the transmitter range, so I installed a new one with the corresponding range (everything same except the range)..
Unfortunately with the same settings it does not work. I tried many times but unsuccessfully What has gone wrong?
Your input much appreciated!
Cheers,
TjP
