ROR, filters, sampling, over sampling, etc
by Fred B
I've been using the Artisan program for some time now on an Ambex ym2 with
an Omega data logger and a 2 ghz dual core laptop. I just loaded 0.8 and
I'm hoping that I might get smoother ROR values with this version as I see
that is one of the improvements. Maybe the issue is the fast response of my
probes? Is there a way to compensate for this in Artisan? Can you make
some recommendations as to the EXTRA settings for the newer version and
maybe something up to date about the effects of using values too large or
too small? My ROR just jumps around too much and by the time it's
dropping/rising too rapidly it's almost too late for me to do anything about
it. Could I benefit (or not and why) from using over sampling or a higher
or lower sample rate? I'm at 4.0 now. Which curve smoothing values affect
real time displays and which don't? I've been reading Scott Rao's new book
and find myself evaluating my roasts and looking carefully at ROR and 1st to
drop percentages so Artisan is so useful. Thanks so much to all that have
contributed to this great program.

Re: [Artisan-user] Why does linux version not show humor font?
by Marko Luther
Seems to me like a bug. I'll take a look as soon as I find the time. It is on the list.

Why does linux version not show humor font?
by Flint Orr
Hi,
Can someone who uses the linux version comment on this question.
Under Tools --> Extras, I mark 'Humor' as the font, but the appearance of
the text does not change. I found the .ttf file and installed it system
wide. But no go with Artisan.
Thanks!

variable for storage temp
by Manfred Brunner
Hi there,
i am searching for a way to do calculations in extra devices and draw a
curve with BT minus storage temperature from green beans.
I know i can do the calculations in "extra devices" with the formula (Y2
- 16) where 16 is the actual Temperature in °C here for my cold beans.
But i have always go to "config/device/extra ..." and write the value
hard coded into the calculation.
Is there a variable available mybe for the "ambient conditions temp"
which is located in "roast properties"?
I can measure the beans and use Y4 but i want it as fixed value for the
specific beans i want to roast.
Thanks,
Manfred

settings which change and settings which don't
by Susan
I have tripped myself up a few times and spent way too much time trying
to get back to the beginning, so now I have to ask:
What do I need to know to keep the settings I want for Artisan from
getting re-set to the settings of someone else
if/as/when I upload their .alog file?
if/as/when I open their .aset file???
Do I need to have Artisan in more than one location on the computer?
One for me that I can keep the way I want it and one for everyone else
which will just keep changing?
I have had occasion to ask someone to send me their .alog or their .aset
file, and each time I have had to go back to square one and reset
everything the way I want it.
