Because the Bean Temperature probe registers above 200 degrees F at the time of the Charge, the Dry Phase starts at Time = 0 rather than when the Bean Temperature is actually at 200 degrees F.
Is this how it was intended to function?

Hi all.
Let me explain a little how to use Designer. Designer is a feature that lets you create background templates (ie. guides, models, etc). The templates can contain information about what to do (like power, fan Events), and they can also show contrasting differences of time, temperature, etc. It is a feature that helps fine tune roasts. Lets put an example and say that you did a roast, but you want to try to change something to explore how the flavor compares. You could just maybe use pencil and paper, but with Designer you would see the contrasts between your new profile idea and your actual result. Thus, you would gain a more realistic perspective that would help you learn how to make realistic changes in your roaster.
First, you would load the file you want to modify in to the background. Then load it one more time in to Designer (open file again, then start designer). Move points to match the background and apply the changes you want to try. Some times the curves don't 'want' to go like you want. No problem. To force the curves to go through some specific point, add a new data point where you want the curve to pass through. Probably, your most important changes to make will be in ET, as ET is the controlling temperature. The changes in BT are only used to know when to start and stop a roast (and to compare final benchmarks and results but not for controlling inputs).
Once the template is finished, open the context menu (mouse right-click) and start Designer config. Press the button Create. The template will become a real profile and you can attach extra Events if you want (open Roast Properties menu). Events can be used to remind you of what to do (like change power settings) when the Event time arrives. Now you can save the model-profile to a file and use it as a background template on your next roast.
Cheers
Hi.
To who it may concern.
There is especial version of artisan here to prevent crashes when using old cpu processors:
http://code.google.com/p/artisan/downloads/detail?name=artisan-Win-0.4.0-ce…
This especial version should run without crashes in old processors (like the celeron). If your cpu is newer then use the regular artisan version (better). But if you are stuck with and old laptop that crashes when running artisan, then you can use this other option. This especial version introduces some mathematical errors. For example the 00:00 axes would read -01:52 but it works ok.
If you happen to have one of those old laptops that crashes when running artisan, please test it and let us know.
Thanks
Hi.
There is a new version of artisan released today. Some of the main new features are:
- improved CSV import/export
- K202 CSV support added
- adds localization support
- adds german, french, spanish, swedish, italian menu translations
- fixed cut-copy-paste on Mac and added cut-copy-paste menu
- LCD color configuration
- replay of events via background dialog
- relative times are used everywhere
- adds profile designer
- adds alarms
- more robust Arduino/TC4 communication
- bug fixes

We hope you like the improvements we have made, and tell us what you would like to see next.

PS: In the new feature called Designer, to access the context menu, do a mouse right-click inside the Designer graph area.
